Connected at last!
From home I mean
The last time I had this luxury called Internet was more than 5 years ago before I shifted away from my old house in Kajang to Beranang where I’m currently staying. I still remember the agony of being disconnected all of a sudden after routinely being online almost 24/7 daily. But I endured. Until NOW.
Yesterday I applied for Maxis 3G Unlimited which burns RM99 a month. A 3G line delivers about 384kbps data transfer rate at best effort, which I think means that it’s something we can never get. Was a bit skeptical but I HAD to try it. Why? I’ll list it out to these reasons :
- Cheaper than most other net ISP’s. Can’t use DIGI coz my handphone doesn’t support EDGE.
- Don’t have a fixed line at home to apply for Streamyx.
- Hates to be wired. Wireless seems to be a better option.
- Malas wana pay so much deposit and installation fees to fix Streamyx.
- Maxis 3G has no contract whatsoever. Which means I can cancel it off anytime I want should I be unhappy with the service. ( More like can’t afford to pay
) - Want to test how good can a 3G connection get. And last but not least;
- I WANT TO GET CONNECTED!!
The verdict :
- Line is pretty stable. Pages loads up quite fast.
- Feels like surfing from a wired line. Not so much difference.
- Got my download speed at a stable 45kbps. Can’t match Streamyx on a good day.
- Eventho they state 384 kbps at full effort, my house which has a full bar 3G connection only gets me connected at 115.2kbps. But the connection speed is still impressively fast.
- RM99 a month to burn is still quite pricey. Haih….
So peeps, interested? Check it out here. They have other much cheaper packages too.
So here I am now, surfing away happily. Such a blissful feeling…
